Manhattan Coin Club Minutes

October 14, 2014

Vice-President Allen called the meeting to order in the absence of President Doyle. Doyle was undergoing some medical tests at the hospital and the members all wish him well. Former President Melissa stepped down due to conflicts in scheduling.

Treasurer Dave was not prepared with a financial report.

VP Allen talked about the Lenexa coin show and that bullion and keys dates were what were selling.

Jerry announced the Topeka Coin show that is coming this November 15th in Heritage Hall in Topeka. A copy of the flyer may be obtained here.

Myron passed out copes of the article, Rare Coins In Your Pocket – Can You Still Hope For That Surprise Treasure?.

Ray spoke on his troubles getting onto the coin clubs web site. During that discussion Myron was able to connect to it in 5 seconds. The discussion ended at that point.

A Fall Coin & Currency Auction by RJ Auction Service was announced. It will be held Friday, October 24th, 15767 S. Kansas Avenue, Scranton, Kansas 66537.

The program was by John Ingstrom from the Topeka Coin Club. John spoke about his mother’s collection of memorabilia related to the assassination of President John Kennedy the history of the Kennedy half-dollar. The membership appreciated his attending and his presentation.

A Kennedy half and a state quarter for the adult and youth members were the door prizes. Ray won the adult drawing and Chuck won the youth drawing in the absence of any young members.

The silent auction was held. There were a limited number of items this time. Following the auction the meeting adjourned.
